Am I being ungrateful? MIL

We recently found out we are expecting, we had an early scan and are now 6 weeks and 5 days (roughly) we are very excited but DH's mother has been rather uninterested, even sent her a scan photo and she saw it but didn't say anything so I asked if she had got it and she just said "yeah"
Then this morning she emails me saying she has ordered 400 size 2 nappies and will get some size 3 as DH was 9.8lb!

I was highly allergic to most big brands and we are considering using reuseable nappies, spoken to DH and he says she's trying to be nice and help, but why not ask how you can help?!

Am I being hormonal and ungrateful?

No, I don't think you are being ungrateful. Even if you weren't planning on using washable, I'd advise against bulk buying nappies. Different brands suit different shapes and one brand may leak on your baby.

Get your DH to ask her to not buy anything for a few months, then check with you both before she splashes out.

If she does buy anything you really don't want, I'm sure your local women's refuge will only be too happy to take it off your hands Smile

Congratulations on your PG too Thanks

She's probably just trying to show she's interested unless there is a back story it seems a bit of a non issue that could be solved by a text tbh.
Why not just text her back and say we were going to use reusable ones so you might as well send them back and put something towards the reusable ones?

Congratulations on your pregnancy Flowers

Buying 400 nappies when you are only 6 weeks pregnant does sound a bit bonkers to me. As others have said though, it might just just be her way of showing interest. I would let this go but if she starts buying huge amounts of baby stuff then ask your DH to have a gentle word with her.

It's a bit bonkers to be honest...

It's early days for everyone, the dust needs to settle on the excitement.

Just say you don't have the storage space for them, or like so many things you get given when the baby arrives, just nod and accept then take to the charity shop on the quiet later.

If yiu have a 20 week scan in your area, you could try telling her that you aren't planning on having anything until after that scan Smile
