for some of us it just goes on and on and on though.....

how old is your ds cod, mine is nearly 6 and is so competitive and bossy and cross when things don't go his way - it would be loverly to know he will grow out of it.

please give me some hope cod - hope old is yours now (was it ds1?)

oh god, the silent tears kill me. When they try to be brave about it and you know it is ripping their little hearts (sob).

so you reckon 8 (shudder) - so only 2 and a bit more years of hell for me.

Ds is in reception now and I think this is why it has got worse - loads of kids and lots more opportunity for competition.

I know you may think I'm mad, but I was seriously thinking of asking ds's teacher whether she thought ds should 'talk' to someone about his complete inability to control his emotions when it comes to competition. He is so OTT about it that he doesn't even want to go to football training

another couple of years then...

I was going to start a thread about 'how do I help ds stop being bossy and competitive', but I had a feeling the answer would be 'ride it out for a year or two' .

well... my ds1 is 9.5 and still finds such things soooooooo hard. still loses it completely and innappropriately..... i think it's slowly (V V SLOWLY it feels like) improving......

mmm yes I think the tiredness of doing full days at school has not made things any easier (sigh)

the angry hands thing is interesting - ds tends to go into a sort of rage - either full on sobbing or a sort of real angry crying - does that sound familiar?

it is a tiresome phase ggrrrr

Cod, i dont think they ever stop DP is just a little boy in big pants!!!!!

hates to lose, infact it isnt an option.................very boring

also have found with him blood sugar levels are key... if he's hungry he cant control himself.... if he fills himself up on simple carbs at lunch (especially white rice / pasta which he loves) then by mid afternoon he will crash and burn.....

bananas very good energy food, slow release, big them at brekkie time and by 10am the teacher will be climbing the walls

Does this count with summer born competitive tomboy girls too? I have one and she is dreadful ...

how close in age are they cod? my ds's are 19 months apart and are sooooooo competitive with each other. like yours ds2 is a. chilled and b. really good at the things ds1 wants to excel at. ds1 supports your theory as he is summer baby....

Summer born boys thing is also tough because there's always at least one and usually several other boys who can outclass them without even breaking sweat. However hard they try they'll never be the biggest or the best at footie. Sob.
