How concerned should I be?

DS, 3 in March showing increasing signs of being very anxious.
For example, during tantrums he hits himself in the head and face, pulls his hair and bangs his head on the floor. He has frequent night terrors and nightmares. He's recently started biting his nails and finger tips.
He's very clever, and usually very obedient. He has a DS, 16 months old who he gets on very well with.
I know personally I feel I'm very hard on him, and I make an effort to be gentler in my tone with him but I don't know if I perhaps need to look at getting us some further help in terms of counseling for his anxiety and for my temper. I'm a really anxious person, and I'd hate to contribute or not help to any feelings of anxiety he might be feeling.

How is his language?

Excellent. His vocab is great for his age. He's prone to stuttering but it comes and goes. Worse if he's tired/upset. Only the start of a sentence causes the stutter, he can get everything after that first word out no problem.

Why are you losing your temper, OP? Do you have too much on?

Shortfatandangry · 13/12/2016 18:52

I have inherited a bit of a short fuse. And a 16 month old and nearly 3 yo is really hard work. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and I tend to get a bit shouty when I'm stressed out.
