I am a new member and really need some advice.... my 4 year old son is constantley taking things from school and bringing them home, then he hides them. He hides car keys, mobile phones etc.. he takes food from the cupboards and hides whilst eating it.. i have no idea why he does it. It is getting really embarrasing as he has started taking things from other people too, What can I do??? he's like a hamster. Its driving me nuts, its happening all the time.. help me please aaaaaarrrggghhhhhhh

ARe you really a mum of 5 boys? Wow - all power to you! No help really, just to let you know you are not alone. We seem to spend hours looking for car keys etc and our DS is only 17 monhts!!

mumof5boys · 15/02/2007 19:32

yep, 5 lads from 14 yrs down to 4 yrs
If he was my first he would have been an only child.lol
He is a pain in the btm, he removed the bottom of the kitchen cupboard today and hid my husbands phone in it, then put the cover back on. He is so sneaky, he even went to his bedroom and hid under his bed we couldnt find him for half an hour I nearly called the police..

well I have a 4 yr ols boy who is doing this.At the moment it's car keys, mobiles and belts from everyone's dressing gowns.
He completely denies knowing where the article is when you ask him.Weird behaviour.Maybe attention seeking but my ds gets loads so I am puzzled too.Sorry to have no answers but you're not alone.

hats off to you for being a mum of 5 boys!

my 4 yo dd2 hides things all the time, she especially likes things that can be shredded or ripped into little bits and then hidden somewhere. (e.g. stuffing out of toys, tissues etc)
why does she do it?

"don't know"

Hi, hat has happened and how did you stop your child hiding things? My 5 almost 6 year old daughter is doing this and nothing so far has worked: taking things away, banning her from going to the birthday party, asking her not to do this anymore, giving her stuff, giving her more attention, trying explain that what she does is bad and causing us problems. Any more ideas? thanks
