My son's (3.10 yo) eyes are going from bright baby blue to a muddy greenish colour.

How is this possible? Dp and I both have blue eyes. My mother has green eyes, but according to a website I just looked as that shouldn't make any difference.

And, I thought after age 3 a child's eyes don't change anyway! So should I take him to the doctor?!

A friend of mine had blue eyes until she was 12 - then they changed to green.

I've heard before that blue eyes can turn green, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Nah - all my kids' eyes did this, it is sad when they stop being lovely pure blue but the end result can be quite interesting. DS1's eyes are now sort-of grey, with greenish specks and yellowish specks. The others are varying shades of bluey/greeny/grey.

I never heard they don't change after 3 - IME that's when they do start to change!

What colour are the milkmans eyes?

AngharadGoldenhand · 15/02/2007 11:47

Don't know about age limit on eye colour, but two blue-eyed parents apparently don't necessarily make a blue-eyed child.
It's more complex than that - see if you can find any posts by tamum about it.

my mum will tell anyone who will listen that my eyes changed after I was 3. She views it as one of her few victories over my grandma (her MIL) who had been annoying her about my 'lovely blue eyes, just like her father'. (I'm not sure why that annoyed her so much, but it did).

Dh's eyes change colour every few years. On his army records they are down as green, but when I met him they were blue. They are now a greeny-blue again!

my daughter has eyes that depending on what ay it is either look green or brown.

DS3 is the only one of my children whose eyes haven't changed colour - he was born with dark brown eyes and still has them at 2.7. The others went from having blue eyes to having hazel/green eyes.

I have green eyes and DH has hazel eyes.

i remember something from school about eyes changing colour. My science teacher told us that if you have to wear a glass eye you have to change the colour over the years as your eyes naturally change colour. Funny how things stick in your memory eh? Not sure if it would be as noticible all of a sudden though?

my DD is 5 and her eyes turned from blue to green in the last year.

colditz · 15/02/2007 18:41

thanks chaps! I just don't get where this has come from - we are both blue eyed (dp and I)
