my 9 year old has 'attidtude' help!!

my DS is 9 and has 'attitude'! He always has to have the last word. I'm sure when I was his age I would never dare... is this normal? How can I put a stop to it once and for all? I can be on any subject at all, homework through to bed time. Its grinding me down..

Get him serously into a sport so he is training so much he will be too tired to even speak. I think at least 60% of attitude is brought on by boredom and not being challenged enough.

i have many many tortures perhaps you would like to chose from

taking eerything joyful and entertaining out of their bedroom. then sending them to it for the evening.

your child should have chores at 9 years old. if not impliment them then with bad behaviour increse - decrease as appropriate.

clean out my car ( serious shithole)

no pocket money.

no social activities. cubs, soccer whatever.

teach him how to iron. they give ironing.

teach them how to use the washing machine and do 2 lots of washing per eening for the week.

Thanks, yes i need to get tough on him I think. He does football 3 times a week and I could ban him from it, but i feel like i'm letting the team down.

My DD is 6 and there is competition between them, you love her more than me etc. etc.

Trying to be fair across the board is hard.

your not letting the team down - he is. i've never met a parent who is cross at me for cancelling a prior engagement becuase i am punishing the kids.

i do tend to do one punishment per infraction. and not drag it out over days and days - becuase i think they dont get the message but rater just resent your very existance.
