Have I got depression?

I have 2 boys, eldest 2.10 youngest 6 months. DS1 angel at nursery I'm always being told how great he is but he is awful for me. Example the other day had a visitor in the nursery which I went to (something to do with the ratios) (oh and without DS2) and the minute I walked through the door he started pushing other children, being cheeky to the nursery leaders and not doing anything they asked him to. I take him to a music group once a week and he will not behave himself at all he is rude to the other children and their parents, won't share, won't mind his Ps and Qs and is just a down right brat. I find myself shouting all the time. I just feel like crying all the time and have started waking up during the night thinking about it. I try to stay positive but just don't know what to do. Any advice out there?

I'm sorry to hear you're having a bad time. Unfortunately don't thin kI can offer much help, other than it's probably normal behaviour for a 2yo.

My DD1 (just turned 3yo) tends to have one good day, one bad day and sometimes misbehaves terribly when we are out at classes or playgroup. Think she's just showing off. Other times she can be terribly good and helpful with me and her little sister.

I know I cope worse with her when I'm tired so try to get a good night's sleep. Can you leave hhim with someone else for an afternoon to give you a break? Anf have you spoken to your DH/DP about Ds and his behaviour. If you do feel like you may be going down the depression route, the best thing you can do is talk. Discuss your feelings with DH/DP or a friend before you get any worse.

I went through a difficult time with my DD when she was about your childs age - I spoke to the Health Visitor and she suggested that when naughty, scoop her up with no facial expression and put her on a chair with her back towards every body and you crouching behind her .(to begin with) If she struggled , I had to say "No" and re position her and she had to sit like that for a minute of her age . When the time was up I then had to say "do you know why i put you on the naughty chair?" and explain. It was hard at first - but in the end she just sat there!! Saying that I found it very stressful thinking that every one else in the room was looking at me -
I found the 2's an awful time - I think the best answer is also to walk away if theyre winding you up.
When I got depressed, I could feel it taking over my body - my arms tingled and i generally felt heavy hearted - but speak to your Health visitor - thats what theyre there for!
