Head Butting in 2 Year Olds

Help!!!!!! Believe it or not I cannot find a decent website, online, that can give me some advice on sharing issues and head butting temperature tantrums in a child aged 2, can anyone help by passing on a website address or some useful advice?

My son was head butting the floor when he was younger - we tried to ignore it as we felt it was attention seeking, though I did worry he was going to do himself an injury. How long has it been going on?

ds3 does it a lot. He is very strong willed. I tend to walk away, then give him a lot of attention when he stops. It usually goes away as speech improves.

DD1 started at 15 months by lying on floor and wacking her head very hard, sometimes with tantrum but mostly without. She then did it while seemingly happy and absorbed playing outside on the garden wall. She was covered in bruises and cuts on her forehead for about 3 months. The Health Visitor said it to ignore it too. It was very difficut to do this but it did decrease and then stopped completely areound her 2nd birthday. She has had excellent speech but has definitely grown into a very strong willed child and she is now hitting me! Nursery nurse said it would probably develop into other behaviour issues. Great! She is nearly 3.

Its quite common I think. Ds used to do it, but has recently grown out of it (he's 2.4). He did it for about a year.

Unless the child is actually giving themselves concussion or badly damaging their head, the best thing to do is ignore it and don't give them any attention for it.

IT is really painful to watch sometimes, but most don't manage to do themselves any damage.
