How do you help a sloooooow eater

Seriously at my wits end.

DS is so slow at eating. He's just not bothered about food and so no incentive to eat.

I feel as though meal times just involve me telling him to eat.

He's just started school and they only get 25 mins. He's often not able to finish his dinner and doesn't get time for pudding so I really need him to speed up.

Timers just seen to make him say he's finished no matter how much he's eaten.

Any magic ideas?

Are you trying to make him eat too much? I've never been able to understand the concept of slow eating as mentioned on MN....in relation to DC of course. If the child isn't interested any longer then perhaps they've had enough?

My children rarely finish what they're given.
