does anyone know why children choose the colour black over any other colour to draw with i look after a child who no matter how many other colours you put in front of them they choose black every time i was told there was a reason for it anyone know what it is

Is it because it is the easiest colour to see? Just a guess. My dd2 was like that man off that comedy sketch show - name escapes me- Blaaaaack, baalaaaack- when ever asked her favourite colour. She wanted her room painted black. My mum knitted her a rainbow scarf and had to put black on the ends of it.DH thinks she will grow up to be a goth.

i said that but was told there another reason for it so have no idea really i think black should be in the rainbow anyway hahaha

she two i havent noticed in any other child that age or any other age but it evry time doesnt matter what colours are there she always chooses black!!!

I used to babysit for a 3yo who did it. (Back in the olden days when I was about 14)

Because it has the highest contrast with what they are drawing on?

Because pictures in their books are often outlined in black?

My mum used to take the black felt tip out when she bought them, because she said it caused fights
