Formes Maternity Shops. Was your visit child friendly?

My nearest Formes is in Copenhagen and visiting it with 20 month old ds is a nightmare. Are they only catering for first time mothers?

The shop is tiny and on a raised ground floor on a backstreet so it's up a flight of steep stairs and there is only just room to park a buggy on the street outside (common practice here). On the way up the stairs there's a welcoming sign of 'Don't bring any food in here'.

There are wooden mannequins in the window bays that invite toddlers to crawl into but the wretched things could fall on them. There is no barrier preventing entry. There is no where to put your child to play as you attempt to look around and the staff are really unsympathetic. I did buy a bundle of clothes there when I went with 2 other mothers and 1 other child (the only choice I have locally is H&M so wanted some variety).

I've been back with another pregnant friend (ie only one child between us) and it's been a feat of planning each time. Ds is lively but not wild and I have to spend the whole time coaxing him out of the window and now regret giving them any of my money for being so c**p at trying to coax it out of me.

Is this an unique experience?

I went to the Formes in Covent Garden & Bond Street while I was pregnant and found the staff in both to be particularly snooty. They did quite an aggressive hard sell, while at the same time being quite unhelpful. A most unrelaxing experience and seeing as the prices are definitely at the upper end of things it annoyed me even more. Haven't been in there with children, although can imagine it could only get worse! Have you tried mail order Jo Jo Maman Bebe as they have some quite nice stuff?

I only bought a pair of trousers from Formes (£60) but they were incredibly comfortable and made my legs look 'normal' ie they were very well cut. the woman in covent garden carried my (obviously very light!) bag and opened the door for me! Formes have a website too.
