Ds is almost 11 months and began bum shuffling one month ago. He can also commando crawl which happened about 9 months. He doesn't pull to standing easily but can bear his weight.
There is no way he's going to walk by 1-ish if he can't even pull up yet.
Any bum-shuffler mums- did it take your dc longer to do these things?
New experience- dd crawled traditionally at 8 mo and walked at 12mo

DD bum shuffled and didn't walk until she was 14 months
I was a bit concerned as DS (my first) was walking at 10 months but she was just a bit lazier
She's still the lazy one now Grin

DS2 bum shuffled and walked at 19 months.

Whitelisbon · 19/06/2016 01:17

Of my dts, one crawled at 7 months and walked at 8 1/2 months, the other bum shuffled at 11 months and walked at 14 months.
Within a fortnight of the bum shuffler walking, she was steadier on her feet than her brother, and they're now 2.5 and she's still less clumsy and bruised than him.

My bum shuffler was walking securely by 18 months. By then I was six months pregnant and she was a chubber so I was delighted not to have to carry her as much!! Her younger brother crawled around 11 months and walked at 17 months.

My DS was a bum shuffler, never crawled. The pulling up to standing/cruising & walking all happened between 12-14 months. Once he was strong enough to get from sitting position onto his feet (pulling up on furniture) it all happened really fast.

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 27/06/2016 18:47

My shuffler is a year old and showing no signs of anything else. He can't be bothered to learn how to turn over from tummy to back - too laid back. But he's a fast shuffler :)

Groovee · 27/06/2016 18:49

DD was a bum shuffled who walked at 15 months. DD commando crawled, crawled, bum shuffled. Didn't pull himself up til he was one and scared the living day lights off my appearing at the side of the sofa! He walked at 16 months.

FloatyFlo · 30/06/2016 01:35

My bum shuffler didn't walk until 22 months!!

We had a couple of appointments at our hospital to check there was nothing wrong with his legs/muscles, which there wasn't.

It's just how he was!

AppleMagic · 30/06/2016 02:08

Dd wasn't a bum shuffler but she was a late crawler and didn't pull up on things until her first birthday. Once she was up she walked at 13 months though.

Ds crawled at 8 months and cruised the furniture from 10-18m.

KeyserSophie · 30/06/2016 02:12

Ds never crawled at all (as in, ever, not even once). He bum shuffled from 10-13 mths. I took him to the physio (paediatriaican referral- not UK and they panic really early). She basically did a couple of exercises to get him onto his feet- basically moved his limbs into the positions he needed to use to get up. He started cruising almost immediately and then walked at 15mo.

Yogic flyer Bum shuffler DS was 22 months before he walked. Health visitor was very reassuring, said shufflers were often late walkers as they didn't really see walking as worth the effort, seeing as they could move so fast on their bums and stil carry stuff in their free hand.

waitingforsomething · 30/06/2016 02:58

Well In the last 24 hours he has managed to go from being on his front, into a crawling position then into sitting, and this morning he pulled himself up on the sofa twice (a lot of effort!)
On his front he is not interested in crawling and either commando crawls or sits up, he loves his super fast bum shuffle (marble flooring!)
I guess he's making good progress so I shall stop worrying although I think walking is a way off!

One of my twins bum shuffled and the other crawled. I think I would have been worried about the shuffler as a ftm if I hadn't done pretty much everything the same with them so could see it was individual preference. They both walked at 15months anyway.
