My 20mo DS has (finally) started toddling around in a major way but at the same time is waking up crying every night and refusing to go back to sleep. He was v settled before and it has come as a bit of a shock to the system, particularly as I am 15 weeks pregnant and TIRED!! Please come someone reassure me that this is just a phase and is perfectly normal. We have tried leaving him to settle himself, cuddles, milk, changing nappy and getting up from a while but he cries hysterically every time we put him back into his cot. Any useful tips/sympathy would be gratefully received!

I sympathise. As yet, I have no words of wisdom....my daughter, 22 months is exactly the same, waking up crying, n not wanting to go back to sleep. With her I know its behavioural as shes never been a good sleeper. The crying part is a mystery to me tho. Maybe their imaginations are developed more now, and they are dreaming? Im still waiting for my health visitor to get back to me. I havent slept in two years! Time to sort it!
