2yo started waking at night again

After nearly 2 years of broken sleep my ds2 finally started sleeping through at 22mo. But after 3 months of this he has started night waking again - it started being just once but last night it was 4 times! He was given a teddy a few nights ago which he sleeps with but this seems to have started off the night waking for some reason e.g he loses it and wants me to help find it. I also think he lays on it so wakes up uncomfortable. I've tried not giving him it but he asks for it at bedtime and I can't refuse him a comfort toy. Any ideas?

I can't give any advice but we are going through the same thing it's horrible I'm just hoping being quiet and dull when my d.d wakes on a night is going to work. Can you put the teddy is his bed but not next to him maybe, at the endoor of his bed? Ours is a dummy so I have them all over the house in easy reach. Not ideal I know but it's better than 3 hrs of screaming.

Thanks for reply, thankfully he did sleep through again last night with the teddy so hoping he will have sorted himself out a bit. Sorry you are going through it too. It's so hard being sleep deprived again after finally getting some decent sleep!

We had this with ds when he was a little over 2. Think it was just a development leap kind if thing. Lasted about 6 weeks then went back to sleeping through.

We put it down to a combination of being disturbed after a holiday/moving room St nursery/moving into a bed from cot.

I'm wondering if now would be a good time to put him into a bed - I was reluctant before as he was sleeping through and didn't want to change anything but if he is waking again anyway it seems best to do it before he gets settled again?

I was thinking the same. Sometimes I wonder if she feels too restricted in the cot bed. She likes to move around when she is asleep. Go for it I say. Your already having disturbed nights so what have you got to lose. I read on here that someone had put the bed up and kept the cot up just incase. Maybe try that? Good luck let me know if it works..

We're experiencing similar with our 25mo DD. She's much more disturbed/unsettled at night and I'm unsure why. Have put it down to a combination of teething- second molars are on the cusp of erupting- and a developmental leap. Her language is progressing rapidly and she's very very aware of things/ experiences/ emotions. Hoping it's a phase like with everything! Know how you feel though as I hate it when sleep starts to go to pot!

Mine is in a normal cot so even less room than a cot bed! He does seem to fill it completely. We are going for a weekend away in June so might do the transition after that. Jonesey he is just cutting his last two molars so that might be having an effect too - they have been emerging for weeks now and until now has dealt with them quite well compared to all the others. He woke once to be tucked in last night and slept through the night before so hoping he is settling a bit more now.

My ds was a terrible sleeper by 2 he was sleeping all night every night however we have had lots of short spells of night wakings the latest being from just after his 4th birthday for a month-ish. I used to freak out that he would stop sleeping again but I've realised that it is just phases if I just run with it keep the usual routine he gets out of it quickly.

I should say the last spell was particularly long and likely due to some separation issues he was having with school and new baby coming up usually its not so long.

Thanks kiki, he has slept through the last few nights so I think that very short phase is over (only lasted 4 nights.... panicking prematurely obviously!)
