what do i do?

I bought a junior bed for DD. DS is now in it. Perfect up to about age 7 I would say. he has the smallest bedroom so gives him more room to spread his dinosaurs out! The one I bought was from Argos and has storage underneath.

lissielou I was hoping more people would have posted on this as I want to know too! Let's hope they do today

hopefully, ds is sooo ready to move into a bed, and i dont want to waste money iykwim

depends if you want to spnd more money on another bed in 5/6 years time I guess - or if you can pass it down.

My dd had a normal single bed which she fell out of a few times, then when ds went to a bed I git him a junior bed, much lower which he loves, what was done suited each child at the time, so it really depends on whether you want them to get used to a full size bed or a low bed first.

I'm pondering the same thing - junior bed or single bed as my DD is now 2 and in what is generally known as 'the box room'

My friend suggested the children's beds at IKEA as they extend as the children grow.

We went straight to a single bed - saves money in the long run AND means you can snuggle in for story time, and have lovely cuddles afterwards.

ive looked at the ikea ones. they seem really good value, and they'll be doing home delivery soon. the prob is, ds is 20m and can balance on the rail of his cot, so we need to move him into a bed sooner rather than later

I asked 'said friend' if the bed would fit in the back of the car but obviously it depends a) if you've got a car and b) how big the boot is?

If like me you want the bed sooner rather than later then delivery is a prob. I've found that beds can be delivered quicker than the less than standard size juniors.

We bought a junior bed off ebay (mamas and papas, normally £100, got it for £25 ) for dd1.
I wouldn't have paid full price for one, but if you can pick up a good 2nd hand one, I think junior beds are great between ages 2 to 5/6. dd1 turns 5 in April and she will be too long for hers later this year I imagine, but with dd2 turning 2 in December, should be perfectly timed for us to buy dd1 a king size single bed (not sure what they are called in UK, we're in Australia), which should last her through high school hopefully. We thought it would be nice to give her a little bit of input into her big girl's room, when we do it up later in the year.
A friend had the Ikea one for both her children and she was happy with it. Gives you a few more years to get organised for space as well, if the child is in the smallest b'room, as well.
