tremors

Hi
in the last two days my six month old dd has started to do a shake type movement. It almost looks like she shivers or sucks a lemon. Only lasts a second bit she can do several in a row. Pulls her shoulders up and tremors.
It doesn't seem to effect her - not upset or tears. Just freaks me out a bit.
Has anyone experienced the same thing?
She is 7 months next week so have been weaning for 3 weeks now. Not sure if this could be connected. She does it when lying down and when sitting in the walker. Nothing when sleeping.
I'm hoping this is a normal thing that they do. But pfb so vaguely panicking that something needs checked out.

Why don't you check with a GP just to see what they say? I have no experience of this...

Was going to try to get a video because she only does it sometimes. But in the last 2 days since its started its been every couple of hours. it's very noticeable when it happens.
Don't want to feel like I'm running to the gp when they can't see it in person. Hate to waste anyone's time when I could just describe it over the phone to doctor.
She seems completely fine. Sleeping and eating normally.
Still panicking a bit though.
Is this something anyone else has seen?

I did google it and someone mentioned it could be after a wee. But she can do it 3 or 4 times in a row. I didn't think that was wee related??

Is it after she eats? I've read that could happen too...

Videoing it is a good idea!

It doesn't seem to be linked to anything in particular. I'm going to try and video it tomorrow then make a gp appointment. Just in case.

Is it like this OP? This baby's video is entitled Benign Myoclonic Spasms. The baby in the film was taken to the doctors and diagnosed with Infantile Spasms which I think is the same as Benign Myoclonic Spasms. They said the baby would grow out of them.

That's exactly what it looks like!!
I got her on video a couple of times today so going to try to get a GP appointment tomorrow just to confirm.
Will be glad to know for sure. She's only done it for a couple of days but it's happening so often. Sometimes every few minutes, especially when lying down.
She's done it a couple of times when I'm changing her nappy so not wee related.
Hopefully it's this.
Hopefully it doesn't go on for too long.
My heart is in my mouth when it happens. Terrified it could become a seizure.

OP it seems like the cause of it is harmless...something they grow out of. I can fully understand your stress though...don't Google. Not because you'll see scary things about it but because now you almost have an answer and you need to stop thinking about it if possible before your appointment because it won't help....and that comes from a proper worrier!

I always focus too much on these things myself...and know it's better to leave it alone until you see the GP.

Called the GP first thing and they said to go straight to a and e. Doctors there were great. The videos were good too as she only did it in front of one of the doctors. Were seen by paediatric doctor and then the consultant/registrar I think.

They said it was unusual behaviour but didn't present like seizures. She's booked in for an eeg in a couple of weeks and a follow up with the consultant we saw in a couple of months.

Feel a lot better although still not sure exactly what it is. It's hard still to watch her do it but trying not to get too freaked out. If the doctors were alarmed or worried they would have kept her in today.

Just hope she grows out of it soon!!

I agree that they definitely would have kept her in if they were alarmed by this...the eeg will tell them exactly what's going on and I believe the harmless infantile tremors are actually quite common.

Some parents never even get it investigated apparently because they either don't notice or they think it's a response to wee or food! So, all considered, you've done a good job and so have the NHS!

Couldn't have been happier with everyone we seen. Made us feel so reassured. Even told to contact the consultants office voicemail directly if anything changes and she will see her earlier than July.
Really was the NHS at its best.

They do seem to come out with all the troops when you need them don't they? Really wonderful.x
