about to start serious potty training - anyone know where I can download/copy a reward chart (I know there's not much to it but I'm not feeling very creative - its these summer 5am starts!)

I think the Huggies website has potty training star charts to download.

Here is the site - found it at last. Under training tools there are star charts to personalise, etc.

Large mothercare stores sell them,

and here

Hoorah! just done my first successful link

Kittyb - Also try the Little Earthlets website. Their chart is laminated with re-usable stars. I received a catalogue from them to buy real nappies and found all this other good stuff too!

.....totally irrelevant, but they also do an
all-in-one splash suit for £9.99!! I haven't been able to find one anywhere else.

A question for those who have used star charts: when do you STOP using them for a particular issue? For example, staying in bed until asleep: do you just phase it out, and start it up if they revert to old habits as soon as the chart falls out of use? Or have a sort of 'end of chart' ceremony with an extra special award?

Blu - I tend to use a star chart just for a week at a time, or even 5 days. I find it difficult to keep up the motivation and focus on the star chart for any longer. If they're unsuccessful then a week is too long, and if they are successful then a week has usually broken the cycle of bad behaviour.

Hulababy · 27/05/2004 15:05

I didn't use a chart but when potty training we just stuck little stickers directly onto DD's potty. For the first 3 or 4 days it was every time, but then we kind of phased it out gradually - giving her one if it was her decision to go rather than a reminder etc until after a week or so we didn't bother anymore.

Thanks. I haven't used a star system yet...partly because I hadn't worked out how to finish it, partly because it hasn't seemed appropriate / necessary yet. But I can feel it coming up.

The timing observation is v useful, Roisin.

The BBC site has a very good one in their parenting section.

Again I am afraid it is a cut and paste job (one day I shall do a link and IT WILL WORK!)
