9 year old son exposed himself in school

have name changed for this and need advise desperatley as am out of my depth with this.

teacher told me today that S had exposed himself to a girl in the classroom. this was the first i heard about it, no odd behaviour that it was anythying but a normal week at school until i heard this.

how should i handle this with school and at home

in a full classroom with other's including the teacher around?
i'd ask for his version of events, then discuss private parts and not exposing himself to others (except medical personnel or parents).
hubby once told me that in men's toilets it is fairly strict heads down no looking around maybe having his father reinforce the issue.

Ask for his version of events.
Tell him some things are private - Google underwear rule if you want guidance - and that it shouldn't happen again.

If it's a repeat, I'd be a bit more forceful on private parts staying in clothing.

Does he have any additional needs? Either way OP, at 9 this is as you've realised a potentially serious issue. Did school not offer you any advice? How is his behaviour in general? Is his Dad living at home with you?

thanks for all replies- his dad is at home, i spoke to his teacher today, and have said i wanted a community officer speaking to him as he's nearer 10 years old, which is the legal age of responsibility.

i know that his work at school has been an issue as he's getting distracted alot and not completing school work. for this, i have asked his teacher to show me how much he gets done through the day and if it's not sufficient, to be completed at home.

i will get DH to reinforce privates stay private. any other insight is greatly appreciated- what to say etc

both me and DH spoke to the teacher yesterday with son present. he hasn't done this before

Have you any concerns he may have seen something he shouldn't have OP? Could he for instance have had internet access where he might have seen porn? At a mate's house? One with older brothers?

hi, sorry for late replies, he said a 'friend' sitting at the table told him to do it and he did.

i dont think he's seen anything that he shouldn't have- we have our tv in the living room and laptop is only used by myself.

we spoke to him again yesteday which was when he told us about his friend telling him to do it. they're both aged 9. he is very easily influenced and i would say bows to peer pressure enormously.
