Should my 3 month old be babbling?

Title says it all really. DD1 (who is my DC3) is generally a very quiet and chilled out baby. She rarely makes much noise - cries when she's bored, tired or hungry but that's about it. I'm a bit concerned that she's not babbling yet though. Did anyone else have this? Should I be worried?

Her two big brothers make a ton of noise - maybe she's just going to be a quiet one? Her other development seems OK I think - she smiles, very occasionally laughs, follows voices and people, can loft her head well and hold her head steady. So, I don't know whether to be worried about the lack of babbling...

Mine was practically a mute at that age, I only have the one. He didn't start babbling till about 6months and is now 17months and baubles away constantly and has the odd word in his vocabulary. I'm not worried but reading your post maybe I should be I'm now going to stalk this thread haha

DS (now 8) didn't babble at all till he was 6 months. By 20 months he was talking in complete sentences. Don't worry!

My DS is my first DC and I constantly worried as he only ever made ahh or ooo noises and sounds very much like your DD in the sense of being very chilled out, he has always been very lazy. By his 12 month review in November he still wasn't babbling (he was just about 11 months then) health visitor wasn't too concerned as I was adamant he wasn't deaf. She said they'd follow up 2 months later just to see but he started saying mum a few weeks later and now he's almost 13 months and says a few different things and is always babbling away! I never thought I would hear him chatter as he was always so quiet! So I seriously wouldn't worry if I were you hope this helps!

My daughter is nearly 7 months and has been babbling since she was 6 months, she says papa, baba, dada, but I haven't heard mama yet I posted something similar some time ago, as the health visitor said she should be doing more at 3 months to me in the way of babbling, I think some health visitor's are very unrealistic and worry mums needlessly.

My three boys were very noisy babies babbling from very early on. I only realised this because my sister kept commenting on it as her, same aged children were very quiet, and didn't really babble and she kept comparing them. Her dd was a very early talker and spoke in full sentences at 18 months. My noisy ds2 needed speech therapy and was very late to talk. From my experience it's nothing to worry about.

3 months would be early for babbling. Most babies don't start til they're at least 6 months. Only one baby in my NCT group was babbling at 6m.o. No need to worry.
