DS won't sit at the table for meals!

My DS is 2.2 and recently decided that he no longer wants to sit in his highchair or on the booster seat. He can climb up and down onto a kitchen chair by himself and now won't sit still for very long at mealtimes. I keep asking him to come back to the table but he either walks around the kitchen or just wants to play musical chairs. Is there a way to avoid this becoming a battle of wills? I have a small table and chairs in his bedroom that he uses for drawing etc. Would it be a good idea to offer that instead of the big table? I quite like the idea of us all sitting together at the table which this wouldn't allow. Thanks in advance. Xx

I'd give him the choice, sit STILL on a big chair or you have to go in the high chair. As soon as he moves pop him into the high chair. If he fusses let him know he made that choice by moving off the big chair. Repeat this each meal time and he'll soon learn that if he doesn't want the high chair, sitting still is the best option. Consistency is the key, if you make a child a promise you need to keep it, otherwise they don't know where they stand.

Put him back in the highchair if you want him to stay at the big table. But I used a little table and chair for my dd and she loved it. He might well get up and about still tho so if you really want him to stay at he table then back to the high chair like badgers said.
