Hi, I've got a seven year old boy who won't go on playdates alone with his friends and other parents . He always wants me to be there or someone from his family. I have a friend who I take him to Taekwando with who says my son must be more independent and i should leave him at Taekwando and let another parent bring him home for starters which we have been practising, but which he doesn't like. Another parent I notice always listens to what his son wants. So I am split. Any ideas? Do I just tell my son he has to start going it alone to friends houses etc. Please advise.

He's only seven! Don't force him into anything, as that may unsettle him.

Does he like Taekwando? Our DS certainly wouldn't have wanted to do things like that!

Thanks for that advice. Yes he kind of likes Taekwando, not thrilled by it all the time, but enjoys it enough
