Does he get to have settling in sessions? Routine might help. Make sure he's got a nursery bag that he helps to pack so that he knows when he's going there. It will probably be a rough ride at first though until he realises that there is fun to be had without you!

My eldest DD was super clingy. I thought I was doing the best thing by sending her to nursery but it never suited her. In hindsight it would have been much better to send her to childminders or other very small setting where she could have bonded with one person rather than an army of ever changing nursery nurses. When she was 3,5 she started at school nursery and thrived - but then it was an age thing as well.

Good luck!
