Ideas for playing with 8 month old please

As an add on to my crawling post, any ideas for good games/activities to do with 8 month old. We used to spend a lot of time having walks, looking at the trees and general outdoorsy stuff but the weather just isn't up to it at the mo and we've spent all day inside.

I really would worry about 'doing things' with a baby. When I had my first I found myself quite anxious about 'doing stuff' with him, then as more children followed they just fitted into the family routine and it has made no difference to development. Infact I think the ones that have been left more to their own devices are further on than my ds1 was.
Just let you baby be around you, seeing what you are doing,talk to them generally, give them things ion the kitchen to explore when you are there etc. Don't sweat it, honestly.

I know how you feel. Having had the wonderful summer months to spend outdoors doing fun stuff together I have worried about how to entertain my DD (now eleven months), despite everyone's assurances that I don't need to entertain her. Some stuff that has helped us while away our time together:

Laying on the bed side by side copying eachother (well, me copying her mostly by kicking my legs in the air and so on).
Standing at the bedroom window (has a very low sill) and watching the traffic go past and people walking up and down the street.
Musical instruments if you have any in the house - doesn't matter if you can play them or not. My DD always enjoys having a good old bash on the piano, and twiddling the guitar tunelessly.
Our local library is a great alternative venue to the park. Apart from the obvious book reading, we can practice walking, and DD loves watching any other small persons who are running around there.
