Does anybody have any tips for keeping glasses on a 19month old??

Just what the title says really, I've just picked up DS2's glasses this morning and so far have not been able to keep them on him for more than 20 seconds!!!

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

cant you but the elastic band typ thing, that people put on their sunglasses when they are doing sports. IYKWIM, will search for them and post a picture.

cant find a picture, but they are called sports bands, you attach them to the arms of the glasses and and it sits across the back of the childs head holding them on.

My little boy was diagnosed as having long sight and a squint about a month ago. He was 23 months at the time. We thought we would have a nightmare getting him to wear them but he has "curly ends" that loop right over the ears. He can still take them off but we can intervene when we see him doing it. Luckily he keeps them on 99% of the time and we found the best way to achieve this was putting them on in the highchair with his fav toys or whilst eating so that he was distracted. It took about four or five days before he realised he could see better with the glasses and now only takes them off to rub his eyes lol

Thanks for your replies - Corrina, I tried to avoid going down the route of a sports band, thinking that they'd put more pressure on the bridge of his nose - but I may well have to do it anyway!

Runikka, the optician bended the legs more to help keep them on. I took him for a walk yesterday and he kept pulling them off but let me put them back on, however it started raining so i pulled the raincover over him and within 2 minuted the glasses were wrecked! So, it's back to the opticians we go!! I'm glad it's going well for you xx

Watching this with interest - dd has had glasses since she was 4 months old and she is now 3 1/2. We go through phases, but in general they're off more than on Maddison, we used to spend our lives at the optician's getting them fixed, but now we always request a second pair so we have a spare. You can also get the bendy frames but the NHS in its wisdom would rather pay for a completely new pair every 2 months when one pair gets trashed than pay an extra £30 for an indestructible pair and I refuse to pay the difference myself on principle.

maddison dont tighten the band too much, just have it lose round the back of his head. that way he will have to leanr to pull them up and not off. dd3 has been wearing glasses since she was 18months old. her glasses have very curly ends on them which wrap right round her ears. they are by Carl Zeiss.

like these but dd3's are light purple.
