Anecdotes about peculiar toddler boys turning out 'normal' please

Hi, I'm generally a lurker on this board because I have a peculiar little boy (22m) who worries me sometimes, probably just because he's so different to his older sister. By reading all your replies to others' threads I have come to the conclusion that although he barely speaks he doesn't have language delay and it is just personality (people are boring so he's not interested in conversation.) But he is very unemotional, singleminded and only does eye contact and small amount of affection with me.
Just looking for some happy ending tales to keep me going for another few months please!

I used to childmind a little boy who was a bit like this. He does have a communication disorder though called verbal dyspraxia. He didn't get a dx until he was about 2. He didn't talk at all at 2 although he could obviously understand a lot. He was also reluctant to amke eye contact and was very cuddly. For a while I thought he might have ASD but once he got the dx and support from SALT he came on leaps and bounds. We did sign language with him for a while but his speech got better and better. Now he is 6 and he can hold a conversation, he is openly affectionate and he happily makes and maintians eye contact. His situation may be very different to your ds but it does have a happy ending

Sorry I meant to say that at 2 he wasn't very cuddly.
