At a loss? Need help with my 2 year old.

A little history
Ds1 is 2.4, speech delay, has no words.

He has always been cheeky but things have hit a new level and it's really making me sad. He never listens (hearing checked all fine) always has to touch everything, pull stuff over, climb on stuff. If he doesn't get his own way throws himself on the floor and sometime will hurt himself (very rare)

We have tried the naughty step (just laughs and runs away) time out (thinks it's a game) counting down (sometimes works)

It has got worse since his brother was born 6 months ago. We are totally lost on what to do, as he cannot talk is this the reason for behaviour? I really don't want to turn into a "shouting" parent. I feel like I have failed at being a parent

No advice but lots and lots of sympathy . My DS is 2.2 and sounds EXACTLY the same. No words ( or animal noises etc) and communicates with us mostly by mime and leading us to what he wants. He is however never still and into everything. He throws himself down when told 'no' and I wonder if it's in frustration he can't argue back......... Have you seen anyone about his speech? I raised concerns with the HV at 20 months and we have our first SALT session next week. All my friends children of a similar age are singing and saying their numbers / colours / shapes. I'm so worried for DS.

I saw a speech therapist 6 weeks ago and she has put us on the waiting list for a class called chatter bugs. She didn't really say much about the delay and her report just summarised everything that she saw.

I already play with him, encourage speech, talk to him all the time ect. Read stories.

I am also worried as I don't want him to be behind when he starts school. I am also very worried about his behaviour, is it a underline problem for something else?

In case this is a bit reassuring (and not meant to be a boast) - my 2.3yo ia very advanced with language - and still behaves like that! Screaming tantruming ignoring requests etc. I think it is a feature of the age - it is pretty wearing.

The 3yo could speak much less well at that age but didn't really "terrible two" in the same way.
