Hello All - DD is 3 months and a couple of weeks ago began to dribble like mad and got a rash on her cheeks, HV said teething, even though I teethed young (I had 4 teeth by 4 months) I still thought DD's would be a while off....well now...over the last 3 days DD has gone from happy baby - to v irritable, her sleep has gone sqiffy and her appetite has really dropped. Her rash has flared up and I noticed in her mouth that there are 2 white dots where her 2 front teeth will be...but, a friend has said It can't be her teeth coming through as you would see 2 white lines not dots, but surely they would start as dots??? I just wondered if anyone else had early teethers and does it sound like her teeth are cutting???

TIA for your replies

HV told me at 5 weeks (drooling, grumpy, loss of appetite, runny poos) that DS was teething and kept telling me that at every visit. he's now 6 months and still no teeth! another HV told me it was more like a virus than teething and that drooling and putting things in their mouth is part of their development and aren't always signs of teething.

That's what I thought but seening two white dots makes me think maybe they are cutting?

teeth start as dots yes but be warned.... dd teethed from 3 months had 2 teeth barely broken through at 4 months and they disappeared back under the gums and she didn't get any proper teeth til 11 months!

ds seems to be doing exactly the same

teething can start a long time before teeth actually appear. get some nelsons teetha gel as its fabulous and give hera cold teether to chew

Thanks Pink....I wish she could hold teether bless her, hasn't reached the holding something intentionally stage yet! Please tell me that her mood won't stay like it is till they cut pink nothing I do makes her happy at the moment

my DS sounds exactly the same (though i havent noticed any dots or lines on the gums)he has started drooling like mad and gets really worked up at the start of his feed (from the bottle) i have been using calgel and it really really helps. i jst put atinybit o his dummy and it seems to al him down almost immediately. When the problem first started i gave him a couple of doses of calpol then tried parson and ashtons powders (i think thats what they are called)and they also seemed to cam hi down. i only used the powders when i first saw the signs, he doesnt use tham anymore. sorrout the epic, tted youto know that we are eerienng the sme thing! (oh and DS is also 3 months old)

oh and i share yor feelings re: the soother! i have tried putting his dummies in the fridge but i havent really noticed this making ny difference!

PinkTinsel · 09/12/2006 14:56

will she chew on your finger? ds loves to gnaw on my knuckle when he's cross with teething and it seems to help

reidie · 09/12/2006 15:00

my ds has found his fist and chews on that at the moment! the ony trouble is sometimes he puts his fingers in to far and makes himself gag!

Jam77 · 09/12/2006 15:42

Thanks Guys - pink - she seems to perfer chewing her dummy or fist like reidie's DS at the moment, Reidie - I will try the get on the dummy - thanks for the replies, have to go now but appreciate you posting
