My lo is 16 weeks on Thursday, lately she has changed her feeding pattern completely. Sometimes she will only have her regular 5oz every 4 hours or demand 6 hours and go between 3 - 5 hours. I'm a first time mum and completely confused as what to do. My new hv doesn't seem bothered, I have only just moved to a new area so been given a hv to help inform me of children clinics etc. Also I can now see lo ribs when she breaths in and out is this normal? Please any advise would be great, also lo is on formula if that makes any difference (I know bf is healthy unfortunately this just didn't work comfortably with me, no judgement please)

How much is she having over 24oz?

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 02/11/2015 23:59

I mean over 24 hours!

Mummytoabeaut1 · 03/11/2015 00:02

When she has 5oz she has six feeds per day but when she has 6 oz it can be anything from 5 feeds to 7 feeds.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 03/11/2015 00:02

Is she gaining weight?

Feeding patterns will change all the time, usually just when you think you've got a routine going. What you say doesn't sound anything to worry about to me, and if you were bfing you'd have no idea how much the baby was consuming.

CRtester · 03/11/2015 00:02

Sounds totally normal. I didn't formula feed so never knew how much mine were actually drinking, but they definitely both changed feeding frequency regularly.

I think as soon as they start to become predictable they like to change things just to keep you on your toes!
If she seems happy and healthy then try not to worry too much.

That's exactly what my sister has said, her lo is three weeks younger than mine and she seems to be having the same kind of problems. Thank you all for your reassurance

slightlyconfused85 · 03/11/2015 10:19

Just feed her when you think she's hungry and if she drains bottles put in an extra ounce. Ds is one day younger and has 7oz offered to him when hungry which is 3-4 hourly. You're not doing it wrong if she's feeding when hungry- they're all different

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 03/11/2015 11:00

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

Mummytoabeaut1 · 03/11/2015 13:53

Thank you, I defiantly feel more reassured now. It's so hard, I thought I panicked when I was pregnant seems the panic never ends.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 03/11/2015 13:55

No, I think that's it for life now unfortunately!
