hi all! my DD (8 months) has for the last 4 nights been moaning in her sleep. its not a quiet moan either its loud and like she is in pain. i took her to GP on friday, she checked her over and said she was fine. she is doing it again tonight a real 'whinging' noise!! it goes on and off all night. im worried now because im not sure if she's hurting or has just discovered she can make lots of noise? has anyone experienced this? she is my third baby and ive never heared it before! and im bloody knackered!!!

Yep, dd1 still moans all the time now, and she has got the lot!!

dd2 is currently going mipe, mipe, mipe every half hour or so, she also slept with her hand on her ear last night, so pretty sure its teeth somewhere in there!

She could just be 'talking' in her sleep...after all , she has no words and some children do do this at night whilst being fast asleep and otherwise not distressed.

Rather than paracetamol, try some bonjela type stuff but appropriate to her age...Boots has loads of alternatives. Then, if it is teeth you will do her some good but without the risk of giving calpol when she doesn't need it.

My eldest made noises like this...I spent most nights convinced she was dying of something with all the racket but she would be sound off and I think I used to wake her and make it worse as she really did cry then!!!
xx

ellesbells, just wondered how you know what a constipated elephant sounds like ????
My DD 20 wks has really found her voice at moment and shouts at top of her voice non stop in evening, although thankfully NOT when asleep, well, not yet anyway ! Good Luck, I'm sure ear plugs mighthelp in an emergency !

tinkersbelles lol at your post. i really dont know how i came up with the 'constipated elephant' comment!!! all these years of bringing up kids and probably believing im living in the wild?!! Mrs poppins (great name BTW) i tried bonjela to no avail. last night was the worst! i really think she is just a noisy sleeper its really weird! earplugs excellent suggestion!!
