Height / weight

I've three kids. Two bang on 50 percentile height and weight and consistently there since about a year old. My 5 year old was enormous as a baby but has slimmed down but still tall. He's now 91st percentile height, 50th percentile weight. Would it worry you? He eats loads of fruit. Has school dinners and then a dinner at home too so not starving him.

Bmi calculator puts him as healthy weight.

How does he actually look? I'm no expert as my DD is only 16mo and I'm not medically trained, but she's halfway between 50th and 75th for height, and a little bit over 25th for weight. Has been since she was a couple of months old and it hasn't changed despite eating me out of house and home each day. She looks just fine and proportional so I've made a conscious decision to try and stop worrying about it now. I know looking them up and down isn't the most scientific, but we're all different body shapes and builds, and the chart is only based on averages. If you have no worries about his eating I'm sure he's fine Smile

I would be very worried if he was 91 percentile for weight and 50 percentile for height.

Its absolutely fine to be tall and slim!

Its not good to be small and fat

slightlyconfused85 · 06/10/2015 11:07

I'm not sure the op's child is small and fat- particularly if the bmi calculator puts him at a healthy weight.
Op- if he looks alright and you are confident he eats well I wouldn't worry too much, perhaps he's just about to shoot up in height? Happens a lot with kids, they put a bit of weight on then suddenly get taller.

SpendSpendSpend · 06/10/2015 17:16

Slightly

I think you have read a different post to me

slightlyconfused85 · 06/10/2015 17:23

Really? Her op says the bmi calculator puts him at a healthy weight. It doesn't say he's fat.

SpendSpendSpend · 06/10/2015 18:56

Hes almost at the top of the scale for height.

Hes bang on average for weight.

That makes him very tall and because hes tall he will look very slim at an average weight . The op is concerned hes too slim

slightlyconfused85 · 06/10/2015 19:44

Apologies - didn't really get the op!

My DS is 9thfor weight and 75th for height am not bothered in the slightest prefer that way around and at least he is on the chart!
