Both mine moved to a booster seat attached to a chair at around 18 months

If he's happy keep him in it.
My DC2 is a couple of months younger and on an adjustable height chair (like the tripptrapp ones) but that's because he kept undoing the harness and trying to climb out of his highchair. I figured it was safer for him to have a chair he could get in and out himself safely.

if he's happy let him use it, i used one until age 4.

I have a table and chair which converts into a highchair for my 4 year old. It doesn't have straps on but has arms and prevents him getting down from the table when using as a highchair. At my parents house he still uses a proper highchair!

The tomato hight right highchair is great for older kids who still need security when eating.
