Should I be worried about my 4 year old behaviour?

My nearly 4 year old daughter has always been "lively", but I'm starting to worry. She's been at preschool since January, but still cannot sit and listen, when most other children see capable for a short time. She will misbehave by making silly noises, running off( I have to keep a tight hold when we're out) and being rough with her older sister. She's a bright girl, but seems so full of energy. She also has a habit of eating silly things like soap, skin cream, glue etc. She understands they're not food, but still does it. Wondering if it's all an attention seeking ploy but she gets time alone with us when possible (has one older sister). Should I be talking to doc or health visitor?

Also we have, and are still trying reward charts, time out, positive praising. They don't seem to have any impact past short term.

I think she sounds pretty normal, just hard work. Maybe a bit bored?

My DD is 4 and exactly the same. We've been referred to a behaviour unit through the HV because she also has huge tantrums and is very defiant.

Is your DD at school yet? We've noticed a massive improvement in her since recently starting Reception as opposed to running wild at the school Nursery. We've also started to make sure we take time out to notice the good things and do lots and lots of praise at the time and remind her of her good behaviour at bedtime too.

No. She starts next year. So hoping we see a big improvement in that time. Try to really praise the positive stuff, but she still seems to seek the negative attention too. Little bit of baby talk been creeping through, even though she speaks very well. Hope your little one continues to improve, gives me hope!
