be routinely pooing on the potty?

dd2 is 2y 4 mo and has only ever pood twice on the potty, but will happily wee on it. we had a nappy free day today for the first time. only one accident- a poo with a drizzle of wee.

should i have waited till she poos more often on the potty before ditching nappies for good?

HI - just finished tidying up the poo from the floor minutes ago. I am in the same boat! Must be a stage, because I remembered the only thing that stopped my first girl from pooing in pants was elasticated tracksuit bottoms going commando!!!

I wrote this on the huggies website and for some reason they didn't print it! (perhaps the launch of pull-ups at the time!!!)

I think we have to just recognise when they need to go and whip them onto the toilet (rather than potty - less mess!) when it's on it's way out.
Then stars stars stars (stickers form newsagent)and ring grandma/daddy/santa and tell them how clever you little one is in front of them.

I am in the same boat too ... DD is dry all day in pull ups, but won't poo in the toilet ...

I dropped the nappies with both of mine before they were regularly pooing on the potty. that way, they learn quicker. or at least, I presume they do. It took about 3 weeks for dd to get it, 5 or 6 weeks for ds.

blimey, 5 or 6 weeks? think i'll give up before then!

i'm going to give dd 2 weeks, then we are going away, so may have to rethink how to approach this.

i'm feeling hopeful, but unless i see progress by then, i may have to revert to nappies, as we are going skiing.

i know, i must be potty (gettit?) to do it so close to a hol, but i cant keep ignoring the signs that she's ready indefinately. i have done so for months

ps does anyone else bribe their child to sit on the potty before leaving the house?

I went cold turkey and at 2.4 stopped putting DD in nappies. After two poos she realised the sensible thing was to go to the loo.

I am a hard line potty trainer and DD1 stopped having nappies in the day at 16 months and was dry and in knickers by 18m. I did the bare bum around the house route which is easier in summer than Dec! Where poos were concerned I noticed that sometimes she would go to the potty or say 'wee' but not have one and then she would poo about 5 minutes later. I think that the sensation is there but they haven't the patience to wait. So, if this sounds familiar, go back to the reading/playing on the potty, wait for a poo and then dance around like a loony waving your arms and singing about poo.

IMO going back into nappies, even for a holiday is not a good idea. I also don't believe in pull-ups (well, obviously I know they exist!) as they offer an easy poo option IYSWIM.
