9 month old now refusing cup - help

So my 9 mo DD had been drinking well from a doidy cup (introduced around 6 months). She would take up to 70ml milk 3x daily - top up on top of several breast feeds during naps / at night. (Since 3 months she'll only BF properly when half/fully asleep/nodding off, which has been really hard going). She's now clamping mouth shut at doidy cup - she wants to feed herself but just tips it all over her. She will have sips of milk / water from one of the basic hard-spouted free-flow tommee tippee cups but can't or won't take much volume. What cups are best for her age, given she's so independent minded? She won't take a bottle. I'm trying hard to build up the amount of milk she takes from a cup so I can start cutting back breastfeeds from 12 months. Thanks!

I wouldn't stress 9 mo seems v young to feed from a cup - try a few different types even try a bottle if it's about stopping breastfeeding.
My 3 yo can be really fussy about what he drinks from and only mastered doidy cup at over 12 months- the important thing is they drink not the method! In the summer when v hot my ds 3 even had the odd bottle to get volume into him!

I didn't know Doidy Cup, but just looked it up.

Maybe the plastic doesn't taste/smell very nice. And the handles don't look very substantial. I can't remember what our DS first had, probably a melamine two handled cup with a spout-lid, so at first they can use the spout, the later take off the lid for a more normal sort of cup.

Find a small melamine cup you like, and put in a VERY SMALL amount of liquid, so even if it does spill, it isn't too serious.

Op I'm having the same problem with my 10 month old ds. He's refusing to let us put the doidy anywhere near his mouth as he wants to do it himself. He furiously knocks it everywhere each time we try. He destroyed his great grandmas TV this week by hitting the doidy over it Angry

We've tried juice in his bottles and 2 types of 'sippy cups'. We're having to pin him down and syringe water in to him at the mo - I'm hoping it's a phase that'll pass quickly!

lots of variety of water/juice/ bottles. Maybe take him to choose 1

Try the bm in the basic tommee tippee. It can stay out much longer than formula can't it (please check I can't be arsed to express so just give water in cups).

It may be that she's just not so thirsty/hungry if she's eating well etc. Also the weathers gone rubbish so it's less hot and thirst-making. Sorry for crap English.

DS has about three/four feeds a day and isn't asking for more. On occasion he also demands his cup of water and objects to me trying to feed him.
