DS asking for clean nappy

Today DS (22 mo) was repeatedly asking for a clean nappy. I did one change as it was around his usual change time then tried to say no more, but he got very upset.
He needed, and did do, a poo. He's been aware when he needs a poo for the last 5 months or so. Could he be ready for potty training now or might it be something else?

I'd try him on the potty he's obviously getting aware of his need to wee/poo give it a go for a few days see how it goes. He's not going to be accident free straight away but it's worth a try. If it turns out he's not ready it's no big deal put the nappy back on and try again in a few months

My son was 22 months when he started say 'wet' when he wanted his nappy changed. We bought a potty, just for him to get use to, not thinking that he'd want to use it then (as we had a baby due a month later, so weren't planning on properly potty training!) The first day he had it he asked to take his nappy off and did a wee! (We had previously read 'pirate petes potty' so he knew what a potty was for. We decided to keep him in nappies because of baby being due the following month.
Since that first day he used the potty everyday (wee and poo) though was still having wet nappies. We were just really relaxed with it and let him go whenever he asked, but didn't push him. Our new baby is now 7 weeks old, and my eldest now just turned 2, he asked for big boy pants last week so we took him out to choose some, day one and two he had a few accidents, yesterday he had one accident, and today he was dry all day!!
I'd buy him a potty and see if he wants to use it, maybe try the book, (I got it from Ebay) my son did it at his own pace, and fingers crossed it looks like he's got it :D Good luck!
