My 14 month old dd2 appears to be very jealous of dd1! Did anyone else experience this?

DD2 is 14 months old and whenever DD1 is getting attention, DD2 wants to muscle in. If I am being affectionate towards DD1, DD2 comes shuffling over (bum-shuffler here )and makes disgruntled noises until I pick her up too.

That's fine, but if I try to sit a child on each knee, or if DD1 remains anywhere near, DD2 shoves and hits DD1 quite forcefully. She's a large baby and DD1 is a petite 4 year old. It's not very nice for DD1. I explain to her that the baby doesn't know yet how to share.

How normal is it for the younger sibling to act out jealousy towards their elder sibling. Will it stop?

MY dd=3 the exact same. If my dh and i hug dd gets very jealous and ds=5 is not allowed to hug either of us or there is a major strop.

Just got to make sure everyone gets there fair share of attention. my dd does not like to share but just have to keep explaining that she has to. Hopefully it'll pass.

exactly the same here. dd 17 months, ds nearly 5 yrs.

I used to be the jealous toddler towards the intruder, born a year and a half after me. But at least since I was 4 year old, I and my sister became inseparable and so close that to this very day I can sometimes feel if she is upset, even if we live in different countries. I believe this is also due to my parents being equally caring and affectionate towards both of us. Don't worry, Aderyn, I am sure it is just a phase.

My dd3 is like this, though my first two were never really jealous of each other or their baby sister, she's a right little tyrant if either of the others tries to sit on my knee. She's 2.7 now and still strops when dd2 comes near me.

I make dd3 wait and take her turn, even if she's yelling and crying about it, otherwise it wouldn't be fair on dd2.
