Sudden night waking with my 6month old - any help or ideas?

My 6month old DS has started waking up 3 or 4 times a night previously he has always slept really well if not through the night then was very easy to settle with a quick pat or a hug. He is now screaming and won't settle unless I give him a bottle - sometimes as many as 3 7oz bottles a night. Is this a growth spurt? Has been going on for 3 weeks! He feeds well on 3 meals of solids a day although not really got past the veg and fruit stage yet am wondering if he needs more protein - meat etc?? Any advice or help???

my dd has just gone through a MASSIVE growth spurt at 23 weeks. was previously taking 2 1/2 meals (!) and 4/5 bottles of 5/6 oz each and switched to taking more like 8oz per bottle and waking for more which she hasn't done in ages. THe good news with her has been that it has settled down again.

What does a "normal" day look like? Do you give bottles with the meals or just juice/water? dd is younger so is still having bottle then solids to supliment rather than instead of.

Not much use really but just ot say that with her it has passed... but it has been hard work. I know this is an odd qu but is LO teething? DD could happily guzzle a bottle in the night even if she didn't need it because it was offered. She has been more unsettled recently with the arrival of her teeth. Was up at 6am this morning where normally is 7am and also last week was shouting at 10pm and 12pm but didn't need feeding. I went in, cuddled and put back down. Dunno, just a thought.

He has bottles with his meals except for tea where he has bottle a bit later after his bath...he doesn't appear to be teething but I'm no expert so that may be it - but is it normal to last for 3 weeks and no sign of anything yet? I did wonder whether he was taking bottle just because it was offered - so tried to offer water instead but was screaming for half an hour while I tried to settle him and as soon as I offered milk took the whole lot and went straight to sleep! So difficult to know. Think maybe the seperation thing might be worth a thought - he has always been v happy on his own in the cot but maybe hes starting to not want me to leave....

dd's teething started at 8 weeks and she's just got her first tooth at 23 weeks! it's been on and off for AGES and last bought lasted a week and a half accompanied by vomiting and temperature! Aparently PIL were unsupirsed by this so DH must have been the same as achild.

Maybe thats it then! I'll persevere. Thanks for chatting!
