Anyone have a toddler who climbs on them constantly?

It is driving me insane. She's 21 months, and if I'm sitting down she is climbing on me, or 'falling' on me (deliberately), or throwing herself at me. If I'm standing up, she stands on my feet. This is only when we're in the house, if we're out and about she's fine. She gets lots of exercise, we're out at least twice a day, see lots of children her she, she's very sociable etc. I say no firmly and put her on the floor when she does it.
It's got harder recently as I have a 6 week old, who I am breastfeeding. She climbs on me whilst feeding and I haven't got any hands free to move her.
Any ideas??

Yep. My 2 yo does it and it's difficult at times. I've started to take it as some sort of flattery... But it can drive you up the wall

Noooo don't say that! I was hoping for a magic solution that would solve the problem in 30 seconds!!

My nearly 3 year old does this. Sometimes it hurts when they are sticking their elbows in your collar bone etc.

She also used to climb all over me whilst i was eating my tea etc.

Shes getting loads better now after being very firm with her.

I tell mine to get off and ask why they do it and they say "because we love you so much mummy". Little buggers know there's nothing I can say to that

Dd wraps her arms around my thoat then falls back pushing my throat in . Not pleasant !

Shelagh I'm sure if mine had the right language she'd say the same thing. She's already a master in emotional manipulation ????.
DH always says 'I don't know why you complain about it, it's lovely getting cuddles'.

1. Cuddles would be fine. This is not a cuddle.
2. He only sees her for an hour a day, even I could cope with it for that long!

I encourage cuddles wheneveer I can. Then am strict when get decides to be a limpet on my leg whilst I'm until the kitchen. But I just ate breakfast around a 3yo so am maybe not the best person for advice.

Can you encourage 'team cuddles' whilst bfing?

This is my life at the moment, drives me crazy! The only good thing is that baby is 15 weeks now so bf doesn't take as long and she is better at latching on herself so I can use my hands to defend us both from mad toddler!

As an aside, I now finally understand what MNetters were on about when they say "touched out." I am totally touched out.

I set a travel cot up in the living
Room padded out with a double quilt and when I needed climb free time I would get in it myself.

Worked pretty good.

Yes meringue, when DH gets home from work and wants a hug/physical contact it takes a massive effort not to push him away. I'm completely touched out.

I have this problem too, I'm a total tea addict and climbing toddler plus cups of tea doesn't mix! Mine is 27 months. I thought it was just because he's a crazily active little boy, always running and jumping and flinging himself at me/DH but obviously not alone!

He's always after a carry as well so I'm getting stricter about there being certain times when I can't carry him (e.g. when cooking) and giving him clear options about whether to walk and hold my hand nicely or go on trike/in buggy when we're out walking.

OP maybe you could encourage your DD to be gentle, use kind/gentle hands, sit her next to you with a doll to hold so she can copy you and be gentle with her own baby while you're breastfeeding? Might distract her for a few minutes!

Kind of. My body remembers her doing this, and replays it daily, even though it was thirty years ago. It was such a precious and wonderful time.

Yeah they say you forget the pain of childbirth as well.
