Recommended first shoes for early walker

DS is 8.5 months and to my alarm looks like he'll be walking within a few weeks. Barefoot is obviously fine for indoors, but what shoes would you recommend for walking outdoors? Don't want to spend to much but don't want them to be bad for his feet

If you've got a Clark's near you, they have a good range of first shoes and staff who can measure your child's feet. You might even manage to grab a bargain if they still have some summer sale items available (check online too).

I also find John Lewis really reliable for measuring kids' feet.

I recommend soft moccasin shoes. I got mine from snugglefeet. They're more like slippers with elastic to keep them on, and last ages. I got them when dd started walking at a year, and 6 months later they're still going strong although a bit scruffy.
