Weeing standing up.

Hi

I have a DD1 who's 7 and a DS2 who's 3. DS2 is potty training, but as I'm a single mum, i can't really demonstrate to show him how to wee standing up.

Is there any tips? Do I need to hold his willy? I read somewhere that boys should pull the foreskins back to pee? And what about urinals?

All advice is appreciated.

Thanks Smile

There is no need to do anything with his foreskin.

The best thing to do is teach him sitting down first, then once he's got the hang of it start teaching him to aim at things as he pees. Cheerios in the toilet are good for this.

I just caught a wee in the potty when he was randomly weeing with his nappy off- he thought that looked like fun! Plus he has seen his granddad weeing. Its very messy though if they go straight to weeing standing up.

My ds didn't wee standing up until nearly 4.5, he wasn't interested until then. He had seen dh do it but I think it was more from copying friends. He doesn't really hold it, just sort of leans over the toilet. Dh is messier Hmm.

Yes, just let him sit down at first and then as he gets more confident and can aim better encourage him to stand up. There's no rush. He will also learn to copy other boys at nursery / school as he gets older anyway.

be really careful about al fresco wees. I never considered wind direction for example.

Oh and they have to lean forwards a bit. I found it very messy...

A ping pong ball!! Treat it like a game getting him to aim for it - best thing ever!!!!
