Hi, ds1 is 3 every ad he sees on telly he says i want that for christmas mummy. He is not a spoilt child and he never ever throws a paddy if he sees something in the shop and wants it and i say no.
Cant understand where he is getting this want want want thing from, any advise????? all i say to him is you cant have everything because its greedy, and there wont be enough room in the house?
I guess its the kids channels to blame, all those toys being advertised!!

Anyway if yours is doing the same let me know so i dont feel like the only one!

Laura

Laura - my DS1 is 3, and does exactly the same - for EVERY ad that comes on he asks "Mummy, can I have one of those" to which I reply "when you're bigger" which seems to appease him. The thing is, he forgets about them just as soon as the ads finish, so I don't feel too mean!

I wouldn't worry about it - or else just switch to CBeebies so there are no ads !!!

Yes ds is only 2.3 and he has been doing this for the last couple of months. You are right it is all those bloody adverts! As MVCF says they do forgot about by the time the advert is over. Ds makes me laugh because he has picked out a pressie for me from the adverts which is a paper FX weaving kit where you can weave your own bags! Everytime the advert comes on he says "oh that is a lovely present for mummy".

dd is 2.10 and she also wants everything that she sees on the telly. She forgets most of it thankfully but she is very insistant that she wants a chocolate coin maker (crap IMO) and a badge maker (too old for her) and nail decorating kit (no chance). Luckily I've managed to persuade her that shed like the things I've already bought for her .

My Ds was 3 in oct and is the same also gets the catalogue out. I told him santa doesnt have enough room to bring everything so he can only have one. Everything on the tv it is "ohhh look at that mummy I like that, Can I have it?" So I just say its very nice but you cant have all the toys otherwise other children dont get any...

i told my children if they must comment on every advert,it sounds nicer to say i like that instead of i want that.also if it gets too much,tv goes off!horrid mummy!
