can crying increase at 10 weeks??? feeling a bit worried and low :-(

Hi All - am hoping my fellow netters can ease my mind and reassure me that DD is just a normal baby. DD has started to cry more and more and I was under the impression crying eases as the weeks go by.....has anyone had similar experiences? I'm starting to find myself feeling low as I feel bad that DD is crying more

It's so draining isn't it?
Generally it seems to ease off but there is always a little blighter that proves the exception to the rule.
It's nothing to do with your mothering skills.
I had an absolute fiend that cried solid every night for six hours for seven weeks!

Have you tried a slng and/or a little vibrating chair?
The latter helped me enormously.

Hi Moondog - not tried chair and haven't tried sling as sometimes DD wants be be held and snuggle and sometimes arches back and can't be comforted - I'm sure belly is giving her problems - I have had to change milk as she stopped taking her bottles and would cry, is now taking good feeds again, thank God, but still seems be get getting cramps - is getting worse in evenings and I think I'm finding it hard because she never used to have problems in the evening....how old is your DC?

I agree its nothing you are doing wrong
There is too much expectation for babies to follow a pattern and we forget they are all different.
I remember being told my 9 week old shouldn't be crying so much, to which I replied 'thats what babies do!'
10weeks is still tiny and there are many reasons why she may have become more unsettled.
Don't worry - you will find the cause and she'll go back to being happy - trust yourself!

IME the crying increases before it decreases. I think that something happens developmentally wise between 8-10 weeks that makes them cry more. Read it in a book somewhere once.

It will get better. A crying baby is very tiring and can make you feel very low.

Oh Guys - you don't know how good it is to come on here and have you to make me feel better, I have suffered with depression in my past and I think in the back of my mind I'm terrified of getting PN depression - I have been feeling fine apart from baby blues for a few days around 2 weeks, so I've been a bit worried that DD's crying has worn me down this last week, shitty weather doesn't help thanks again - have doctors appointment at 11.00 about her belly problems so hopefully may have some answers soon. xxx

I thought dd3 had colic as her crying increased a LOt at about 10 weeks. after a while I realised it was when she was very tired and couldn't settle hrself, we spent a few weeks jiggling her round and round the house which always calmed her down.

jam77 it ius quite well known that colic starts at around 9 weeks so it could be that

make sure you are getting plenty of support from your partner as colicky babies are very draining

Thanks Enid - it's odd as DD can get it at any time of day?? She goes down to bed really well most nights - So good to hear that other mums have had similar, how long did it last with your DD? off to docs now - will log on when I get back
