My 6 year old keeps soiling

For the past few years my son (now 6) has had problems with soiling and was treated initially (after a lot of gp visits which was so soul destroying) for encopresis. He was checked physically and they could find no problems.
He kept soiling constantly sometimes 6 times a day and as a result dropped behind at school. Then I thought we turned a corner and after rewarding him for "trying" to poo on the toilet he seemed to stop soiling and would go on the loo.
However we went camping last weekend (this was not the first time camping and he had no problems before whilst camping) and just kept soiling all weekend. I kept sitting him on the loo and he said he just couldn't go. An hour later and he had soiled again. We got through an entire pack of wipes in 2 days. He has now continued with this pattern since we have returned too!
I am at the end of my tether and don't know what to do. I don't know how to approach or fix the problem as I don't know what it is! Is it physical/behavioural/psychological or what. I don't know if I should be shouting (which I do in frustration and anger) at him or is this making it worse or how I should be reacting.
Anyone had any similar problems and have any advise for me? It would be very welcome?? I really don't know what to do. It's now effecting me and the entire family.

I know it's extremely hard and frustrating, but I think you need to try to back off - don't shout, try not to get angry. It's not a situation you can control, IME you need to stay calm and make as little fuss as possible. As far as you can, let your DS be responsible for it - cleaning himself up, put his pants in a bucket etc. Not in a punitive sort of way - just matter-of-fact, it's his body, something he needs to deal with IYSWIM. You're there to support, not to solve his problem.

He's still little and is just treat this practically . So ensure you've got loads of pants and wet wipes and just sort him out nicely. No fuss no nothing . My 8.5 year old can still be bad sometimes, I just help him and I'm kind. It'll pass in time. Try just taking the pressure off

Are you sure he isn't constipated? this can leaf to overflow soiling. i would go back to dr and request referral back to a paediatrician

Thanks both. I think your right I am being too hard but get frustrated and angry. I will try your advice and hopefully it will improve. I haven't tried the getting him to clean himself so that's worth a try too.
I just wish I knew what triggers it. I don't feel like I understand him and really want to x

Thanks Little ducks - he is on movicol but will keep an eye. There was a dose that he missed so maybe that was it.
