Is it normal for a teething 15 month old to have v bad runny nappies (6 v full ones in 1 day)?

She has had quite a fever for 4 days and off her food, drinking lots and sleeping TONNES. I saw a nurse yesterday who said I didnt need to take her to a doctor but I am not sure that is right....

yes i think that sounds normal for a teething baby

but you know your baby best and if you want take her to Dr, or feel she needs to be checked out etc then dont hesitate to take her

Gosh if you want peace of mind take her to the doctor, shes your child. You wouldnt want her to get dehydrated.

Both my lo's used to have the most sore bleeding bottoms due to runny poo as a consequence of teething. It was as if their poo contained battery acid!

I've got one of those at the mo, it's so horrible for her. It's like it takes seconds of contact of poo on bottom for the skin to bleed again

Absolutely kittywits - and they are in total agony when you try and change them. Awful...

Dd is doing this at the moment. She's almost 15 months and is currently cutting 5 teeth. Her poor bottom is red raw because she is having so many vile poos a day that seem to irritate no matter how quickly I change her. The consistency of her poo has changed too - it's the only clue I get that she's teething because she doesn't get any other signs - but it's a lot runnier and smells really disgusting compared to her normal poo.

However, the high temp, being really sleepy and being off her food seems a bit more than just teething. Can you feel any teeth breaking through the gums or see any that look imminent? If there isn't I'd perhaps take her to the gp just to check she hasn't picked up a stomach bug that's causing the nappies. You sound worried about her, follow your instincts!

I would take her to the doctor.

Thanks for this all of you. I took her to the doc today who diagnosed bronchitis. Her cough had been bad and getting worse but I just put it down to her cold. I feel pretty gutted that I left it so long so thank you all for your helpful words. Having breastfed her til she was 13 months I guess I was hoping she'd be immune to everything but i know really that it doesnt work like that! (Maybe I should have continued but I am pregnant and you have to stop sometime!). Poor little mite though. Just shows it is good to get these things checked out. Now I am wondering if it is bacterial or viral and whetehr the antibiotics she was prescribed will do any good and whether that was a big mistake to be giving them to her!

cykas, so glad you've got a diganosis. As far as I understand chest infections need antibiotics to sort them out, so keep giving them to her . Hope she gets better soon
