Aarghh - baby growing up...

The cot bed is being converted to a bed at the weekend after the fright DD 16 months gave us climbing out of her cot. Looking forward to hearing the rattle of the stair gate over the next few days, weeks, years...

Any tips for moving babies from cot to bed or what horrors I can expect?

Keep her in a Grobag (impedes movement marvellously!) A folded up duvet by the side of the bed for the inevitable first night falling-out worked well for us too.

I wrapped the safety bar in a blanket, that stopped the head clonking and shoved a pillow down in between the wall and bed, that stopped trapped limbs. I was ready for a right show when I moved ds1 over at 17 mths but he was fine. He had started to throw himself out of the cot in temper. You don't get such a dramatic exit from a bed 25cm from the floor. He still falls out somtimes, I have gone in to check him at night to find him curled up in his covers on the floor sleeping like, well a baby.
