I can't believe I'm posting about this. I NEVER would have thought such a young child would bite their nails!!!

I have always used baby nail clippers but there have been the odd times where she's had a nail hanging off and I've quickly bitten it off for her.

Has she copied me? Surely not!!

At first I though she just had her fingers in her mouth due to teething but it soon became clear it was because she was biting her nails.

Has anyone else come across this in such a young child?

Is there anything I can do about it?

Hi. My daughter was like this and still is at 5 sometimes. I got this idea from my sister, who was a nail biter. I have nail files strategically placed around my house, in my car and in my bag. Anytime I saw her put her hand in her mouth I pull a file out and file them. She quickly learned and started asking for it. She no longer chews them and at 5, will file them herself.

this may not work for you, but did for us. Oh, also worked with her toe nails...
