Potty training - talk to me

DD is 19.5 months and am thinking I would like to get the ball rolling.

Where/how do I begin though??

I think she knows what wee wees are as I'll often say "mummy's just having wee wees" when I need to go and recently have been asking her where her wee wees are and she does seem to know as mostly points in the right place.

My MIL bought her an all-singing all-dancing potty a while ago which has been in the cellar ever since but think we should bring it out, let her get used to it.

Is there a 'best' way to potty train your child?

I bought a potty book (one to read to her as opposed an info one for parents) but not sure it's really having much of an effect on her.

Any tips greatly received.

Ps the potty she was bought is one that has a pretend flush and cheers when she's done something (and who knows what else - haven't properly looked tbh). What are thoughts on These types of potties as I was just figuring we'd get her a basic one!

I potty trained both mine at 18 months straight onto toilet. Personally I think potties are rather disgusting! And makes it far easier when out elsewhere

Ok so if I do the toilet thing then I need one of those smaller seats and that's it I guess? Did you just put them on the toilet every so often?

My only thing at the moment is that she can't tell me when she needs to go as can literally only say a few words.

I would get the potty out and let her play and get used to it, with no pressure. At her age there is no rush, but no harm in getting her accustomed.

You could start to include it in her bed time routine, have a little sit, clever girl if something goes in, no negative comments if not.

Yes get a little seat and a step
