4 week old, constant poo, farting, nappy rash and vom

First time and probably neurotic mum, but could you tell me if it's normal for my dd to poo constantly, like it is running out of her 24/7, she is never dry, even for a minute and so the nappy rash is starting to get out of hand, I think because she is just never clean. On top of this she seems to always be gassy, farting all the time and sometimes screaming with what I think is tummy pain, scrunched her self up and kicks. She is exclusively bf on demand, at least every 4 hours and will sometimes have projectile vom after feeding, but not often, maybe once every couple of days. Not sure if this is related but she is also quite mucusy, blows bubbles a lot, sometime when she does a little milky vom after feeding it us thick and mucusy and today I have noticed her poo seems a bit mucusy. Is thus normal for a 4 week old or should I take her to the doctor?

Have you looked at the symptoms for cows milk protein allergy? It sounds like a possibility and worth considering. There's a great cmpa for breastfeeding group on facebook where you can ask for advice.

pickwickcrocus · 03/06/2015 13:07

No, I don't think that sounds normal at all, I would take her to the doctor as soon as you can. I have an older daughter and 6 week old son and neither have been like this, explosive poos yes but not constantly pooing.

I should add this isn't a recent development, she has been like this from birth, but I thought the pooing was supposed to calm down after the first couple of weeks and it's just not.

Another one thinking raging cmpi.

My 12 week old was exactly like this ! She has a cows milk intollerence and silent reflux . She also had a hives type rash and bits of blood in her poo. Luckily we got seen by a good doctor . If I slip up with my diet the screaming starts ( I am breastfeeding ) I would cut out the dairy for two weeks to see if things improve .

Another one here thinking cows milk allergy. The Facebook group is really good.

TheseSoles · 03/06/2015 21:05

I thought dairy allergy too. Could be lactose intolerance (even if weight gain is okay, lactose intolerance is a scale - but probably in conjunction with a CMPI allergy too)

Crazyqueenofthecatladies · 03/06/2015 22:44

Lactose intolerance on its own is ridiculously rare, however it can occur as a secondary symptom after a period of gut damage caused by cmpi.

CMPI. Exactly what both dd2 were like
