DD feeding herself

My dd is 16 months, and Im trying to teach her how to feed herself. But I dont know how. Do I sound really stupid? I try to encourage her to hold onto her spoon but she doesnt want to know. I dont want to force/rush her into doing it. I was just wondering what other mums did? She can feed herself finger foods.

I think I wouldn't be too stressed about it. If she can feed herself finger foods it will only be a matter of time before she moves onto using cutlery. My dd is 18 months and sometimes uses a spoon or fork and sometimes doesn't but even when she does it doesn't last long, maybe 3 or 4 mouthfuls before she's bored of doing it. Why not let her play with the spoon and the food even if she doesn't attempt to put it into her mouth. Expect a BIG mess though.
