baby bruises - making me paranoid!

Dd has just turned a year. She crawls a lot and stands against furniture etc. I bruise very easily and it seems like she does too, as her shins are covered in bruises at varying stages of colour. I can only assume she's getting these bruises by crawling along the floor, despite me putting her in more padded type trousers. She goes to nursery two mornings a week and I'm worried that the staff might think it looks suspicious! I was thinking of mentioning something to them but I don't know if that would make it look more suspicious...Aarrrggghhh!

I just wondered, are these bruises very common in babies that crawl a lot? Would the nursery staff know that? She's my first so I'm not sure! Thanks Flowers

Yes they're absolutely normal and common. Please don't worry! Nursery will be quite used to it.

The staff at the nursery should have had training in child protection that helps them to distinguish between the usual bumps and scrapes of a newly mobile toddler, as opposed to the kinds of unusual bruises that are the result of physical abuse.
